Volunteers are invaluable members of the team at Children’s National and throughout our community.
Their involvement is instrumental in creating a positive healing environment where children can feel comfortable and their families supported. Children’s National has an active adult volunteer program, and summer opportunities for high school volunteers.
It takes only a small amount of time to make a big difference in a child’s life.
Our volunteer program also manages Dr. Bear’s Closet, full of donated toys, games, books, and personal care items for children. These small
items make a big difference to the thousands of patients in Children’s play rooms, waiting rooms, inpatient units, ambulances, the Emergency Department and Regional Outpatient Centers, such as Dialysis, Oncology, Surgical Care, and the Health Centers—everywhere
in a hospital focused on caring for kids.
DO NOT USE the Patient Portal if you require immediate care or advice.

For life-threatening medical emergencies, call 911.
All Children’s Pediatricians and Associates (CP&A) practice sites in Washington, DC, and Maryland have received National Committee for Quality Assurance Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) Recognition.
